Saraswati is the goddess of art, music, knowledge and wisdom. She is regarded as the destroyer of chaos and confusion. From the shlokas we know:-
“Ya Devi Stuyate Nityam
Vibhu hair Vedaparagaih
Same Vasatu Jihavagre
The meaning of the sloka is: - Saraswati, The Goddess of knowledge, is praised by the intelligent, who have mastered the Shastra (scriptures). She is Brahamrupa that is like as Lord Brahama. May she live on my tongue.
The Goddess Saraswati is often depicted as a beautiful, white skinned woman dressed in pure white, often seated on a white lotus, which symbolizes that she is founded in the experience of the absolute truth. She is mainly associated with the color white and also yellow. She dressed modestly- perhaps representing er preference of knowledge over worldly material things.
She is generally shown to have four arms, which represents the four aspects of human personality in learning: mind, intellect, alertness, and ego. Alternatively, these four arms also represent the four holy books of Hindus that is four Vedas.
She is shown to hold the following in her hands:-
· A book, which is the sacred Vedas, representing the universal, divine, eternal, and true knowledge as well as her perfection of the sciences and he scriptures.
· A mala (rosary) of crystals, representing the power of meditation and spirituality
· A pot of sacred water, representing creativity and purificatory powers
· The Vina or Veena, a musical instrument that represents her purification of all arts and sciences. Saraswati is also associated with courage, the love for and rhythm of music which represents all emotions and feelings expressed in speech on music.
A white swan is often located next to her feet. The sacred swan, if offered a mixture of milk and water, is said to be able to drink the milk alone. The swan thus symbolizes discrimination between the good and the bad or the eternal and the evanescent. Due to he association with the swan, Goddess Saraswati is also referred to as Hamsa-Vahini, which means, “She who has a swan as her vehicle.”
According to a sloka-
Siddhir Bhavatu May Sada”
That means- Saraswati is the Provider of boons and the one, who grants all our desires. As I begin my studies, I bow to the Goddess to help me in making it fruitful and make me successful in all my efforts.
In the world which is good always marked by white color and which is bad marked as black. According to our religious faith we perform Puja and all other things to come out from the ignorance. When we got knowledged then everything is lightened that is white. Devi Sarawati is the symbol of knowledge, that is why she is related with white color.
Devi Saraswati holds a music instrument named Veena. The Veena is a form of lute and such, is classified as a chordophone. The Veena is carved of wood. It resembles the shape of the double toomba sitar, with two large wooden on gard, toombas. The more nare, and most expensive, are varved from a single block of wood. Most veenas are constructed in these sections, the resonator, neck and head.
Veena is a stringed instrument. The Veena has seven strings. Of them four are main strings that pass over the frets and are attached to the pegs of the neck. The other strings are used as side strings for rhythmic accompaniment. These strings pass over an arched bridge made of brass. They lie flat over the top of the body and are secured to the main bridge.
The Veenas are various types.
Often if is simply called Vina or Veena, with the Saraswati part being implicated.
The other is the Rudra Veena related with Lord Rudra or Siva, may be one of the oldest forms of Veena.
The other form of Veena is called Narada Veena related with great Saint on Rishi Narada.
Last one the Vichitra Veena is similar in form, however the method of playing the Vichitra Veena differs from playing the other forms of Veena.
Though there are different varieties of Veena but Saraswati Veena is known as the Queen of Veenas.

May goddess Saraswati, who is fair then the Jasmine-colored moon, and whose pure white garland is like frosty dew drops; who is adored in radiant white attire, on whose beautiful arm rests the Veena and whose throne is a white lotus, who is surrounded and respected by the Gods, protect me. May you fully remove my lethargy, sluggishness, and ignorance.
